This page will serve as a log of all the user and event data we track and send to our various tools. It will serve as (i) a reference for anyone needing to know about this data, and (ii) a way to track the progress of the implementation of this data in the product.

In order to effectively use this document, you will need an understanding of how our data tracking and respective naming conventions work. You can find more detail on that here:

How to use the event taxonomy

Some of the basics you'll need to understand this document:

• Event name: This is the name of the specific event. We follow the object-action naming convention. We will name the object being acted upon and then name the action. File Created, Signup Success, File Exported.
• Call type: the type of call we send to segment, can be .track for a specific action, .page to list all viewed pages or .identify to log user information.
• Description: A where/when (why?) description of this event.
• Event properties: These are properties that are attached to a specific event
• User properties: These are properties attached to the user that needs to be updated upon specific action.
